Madeira Cotona Thread 80W, 200 Meter Spool (Item # MC)
This fine yet strong 100% Egyptian cotton thread adds a subtle elegance to all your work. It's soft matte sheen, and double mercerized finish makes it perfect for heirloom sewing and embroidery work. This is the ultimate choice for Heirloom Sewing and my own personal favourite. It's imported from and Made in Germany, in an extra fine 80 weight. Once you use it, you won't want anything else. Be sure to use the Schmetz Universal 60/8 Needles to accomodate the fineness. (Specify White, Ecru, Pink, Blue, Lilac, Aqua Green, Lt. Yellow and Black) 200 meters per spool, $4.25 each.

Mettler Thread 30W, 219 Yard Spool (Item #MBT)
This is what you should be using for your Battenberg Lace By Machine. It's an imported 100% cotton, Made in Spain, in a heavier 30 weight. It's perfect for the bars, and grids for the bridging stitches on the Battenberg lace. Be sure to use the Schmetz Metallic Needles with this, they have a larger eye to accomodate the thickness and they work perfectly. (Specify White or Ecru) 219 yards per spool, $4.20 each.

Coats Brilliant Thread 60W, 1500 Meter Cone (Item # BTC)
Brilliant thread is great for anything from Heirloom Sewing to sweat shirts and I would never have believed it until I used it. It's a fine cotton wrapped polyester that rivals any cotton thread we carry. The beauty part is it's on a cone - just what we need for the serger. No slubs, or unraveling - finally a great thread on a cone! The perfect choice for using on the serger for Heirloom sewing. (Specify White, Ecru or Pink) A premium overlock thread, 1500 meters per cone, about a 60 weight.
