Plastic "Character" Eyelids in BLACK or BROWN (Item # BPCEL)
Use these plastic eyelids with the regular round German glass eyes, the corner eyes (above) or our "alive eyes" that are child safe. Either way you'll love the realistic look of your bears. On some of my bears, I painted the inside corners with an off white craft paint, to make the eye stand out more. The pic above is the Baby Bear Pattern.  Test Eyes (Item # TE)
Test eyes are used to help you decide what size of eye to use on a particular bear. This set includes one set each of size 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 9mm, 10mm, 11mm, 12mm and 14mm. The eyes joined by a wire, just cut them apart with wire cutters, trim the wire to half an inch and after making a hole for the eye with an awl - pop them in to see what size looks best. Typically these come on a steel pin - with an outrageous price of $3.00 each - yikes! This is our common sense approach to achieve the same thing.

Vintage Old Shoe Button Eyes, the real thing! (Item # ASBE-600)
In the early days of bear making, shoe buttons were used for eyes. For a bear that is truly as close to the original ones produced in the 1900's, shoe button eyes are the perfect choice! They are wood, covered with black leather with a stong metal loop on the back. (Specify size 8 ,9 or 10mm) All sizes $4.95 per set. Our antique shoe buttons are real old and the supply is limited.

These eyes are from Germany and are the same ones they used in the early 1900's. They are a pretty sky blue with a black pupil and have wire between each eye. The wire needs to be cut and a loop formed with needle nose pliers and they are ready to use. Safety Eyes - the best of the best

Alive Eyes Made of European Crystal (Item # AEYE)
These eyes have alot going for them. First of all they're European Crystal (that's what European's call very nice resin), look close because they are set onto a black holder almost like a stud earing - I think the black outline makes the eye more appealing. Next up they are child safe, so if you are on the fence about safe eyes, these would be the ones to use. Not only that, they don't have the usual washer your used to seeing on the back to hold them on. The backing is a plasic disk that not only hold they eye in place, but it has a "cupped" shape that pushes the mohair around the eye and makes the eye look "sunken" from the right side. They are the cream of the crop - so the problem now is you have to decide what to use and when. We are currently selling these eyes in Black, Amber and Amethyst.
